This position assumes daily tasks of observing, operating, and maintaining cardiac monitors. Identifies cardiac arrhythmias and seeks appropriate intervention. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(20%) Assesses the patient's rhythm to ensure a timely implementation of prescribed care.
(20%) Plans and organizes to achieve maximum productivity efficiency to achieve completion of expected job tasks.
(20%) Implements actions that compliments and supports nursing care.
(20%) Evaluates his/her tasks to ensure coordination and communication of patient care.
(20%) Self-Management (Demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members.)
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement as required by the Hospital and the job description.
Operates monitor equipment as outlined on orientation checklist and policies/procedures.
Performs job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations.
Certifications and Licensures
Credential: TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Mgt
Equivalent Experience: Within 6 months of hire or transfer (Employees who are in this position on or before 12/31/2023 will have 24 months to complete this certification)
Required Education
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Other Information
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation or must agree to successfully complete a Cardiac Monitoring Class.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology Preferred.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level:Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
