Job Summary The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Parks and Trails seeks a Parks & Trails Associate for the Northwest Region to support park, trail, and water recreation experiences. Responsibilities Register campers, sell park vehicle permits, merchandise, and fee items; count and collect fees using point‑of‑sale systems. Provide information to the public, give verbal directions, and hand out program materials to promote park rules, facilities, and activities. Maintain park cleanliness by cleaning buildings, grounds, and facilities as directed. Organize reservations and assist in compiling weekly income reports and documentation for fiscal accountability. Assist in nightly security duties when assigned to a park station, ensuring visitor safety and protecting park resources. Minimum Qualifications Manage work tasks effectively with limited supervision while providing customer service and safety. Work collaboratively with colleagues to complete tasks efficiently and safely. Apply problem‑solving skills to handle uncertain customer‑service situations. Welcome a diverse user base to Minnesota State Parks and Trails Units. Operate point‑of‑sale systems, computers, and accurately count and collect fees. Interpret and explain program information to customers and coworkers with patience and fairness. Apply simple math formulas to make change and calculate account balances. Preferred Qualifications Experience or training with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Retail sales and/or customer‑service experience. Database and records management skills to file and categorize documents accurately. First Aid and CPR training or certification. Additional Requirements Unrestricted Class D driver’s license with a clear driving record; applicants must be 18 years or older.
