Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established safety and procedural standards.
Explain procedures to patients to foster trust and comfort during specimen collection.
Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signatures post-venipuncture, ensuring all specimens are labeled correctly in their presence.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing with attention to accuracy and safety protocols.
Maintain thorough records and documentation of collection activities.
Perform specimen processing and handling in both forensic and clinical contexts according to established practices.
Adhere to all policies, safety procedures, and dress code, promoting a safe and professional environment.
Assist in a variety of locations, including patient service centers, doctor’s offices, or other clinical environments, as required by staffing needs.
Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating organizational skills and attention to detail.
Collaborate with team members to ensure workflow efficiency and quality patient care.
Required Skills
Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collection.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a focus on patient comfort and trust.
Ability to work accurately in a high-volume setting while maintaining attention to detail.
Proficiency in data entry and specimen labeling.
Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections, required; experience working in a patient service center preferred.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
Must demonstrate superior customer focus, open communication, and adaptability to change.
Physical capability to perform specimen collection and handling as required.
