Career Opportunity: Audit Senior – Government Services with Clark Schaefer Hackett

Location: Ohio - Cleveland, Toledo, Northern Columbus
Employment Type: Full-Time

As an Audit Senior on our Government Services team , you’ll play a key role in delivering audit, review, and compilation engagements for state and local government clients. This position offers the opportunity to lead engagement areas, mentor team members, and build trusted client relationships —all while developing specialized expertise in a highly regarded practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead key areas of audit engagements from planning through completion.
  • Deliver audit, review, and compilation services for government clients.
  • Manage higher-risk and complex audit areas with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with managers and partners to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Communicate directly with clients to resolve issues and provide insight.
  • Ensure documentation is thorough, accurate, and compliant with standards.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and support junior staff auditors.
  • Review work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Help create a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience managing projects in a public accounting environment.
  • Ability to supervise, review, and develop the work of others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 2+ years of public accounting audit experience (or equivalent industry experience).
  • CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
  • Experience in government audit space preferred.
